I recently got a call from a company called ACEI a debt collector trying to collect money from a past credit card that I still owe on. Well anyway they have called me @ home and work NUMEROUS times, and i tell them I can pay a little on it, but not a lot. Being a single mom with twins getting paid every 2 weeks just doesnt help that matter. So when she called her at my work the other day, she said she wanted to talk to someone in payroll. What does this mean? Can they garnish wages with out sending me something or paper work first? and also how much will be garnish or can be garnished at a time? I mean being a single mom trying to pay all bills on time is hard. I am doing the best taht I can. Also she said that the total pay off is $848 that isnt that much I know, but I can not pay it all off at one time, and I told that lady that. So she said she was going to start on my paperwork, and that the total costs for everything to be paid off will be about $3000. ( with attorneys and court costs) I guess I just done understand how $848 can go to $3000. now I really cant afford that. so they will take out however much of my check til that amount is payed.? Im clueless on all of this and scared. I just need some help and someone willing to explain to me what is going one...please tell me there is a light at the end of this extremely dark depressing tunnel...
