I've had the same thing happen to me once I sent the cease and desist letter. I'm betting that the account was either sent back as uncollectable OR was sold to another CA. If it's the latter, then expect another round of calls, letters, etc., so once again you have to send the letter. Even though I assume they get the whole file from the previous CA for some reason the new CA doesn't abide by the cease & desist letter. Why? Go figure. There's always the chance that the next CA might be a little more agressive too. My address & phone # have never changed. I've talked with some of them and exchanged letters yet every once in awhile - most specifically CAs for MBNA and Bank of America. They know where I am yet they call my elderly parents. Again why? Probably to embarrass. We're told that they are not to do anymore than leave a name and number yet on every occasion they manage to slip in the OC's name. As I said Bank of America is the worst. I've been behind with them over a year and they have gone to 5 different CAs. I've tried telling them I don't have the means to pay the acct. yet they continue until they receive the cease and desist letter. It'll be quiet for 3-6 months and then another round. All my accts have been charged off and in fact 2 have it on my credit report that I filed bankruptcy when I didn't so who knows what goes through their minds.
