cross-posting this from another board... OK, i've been reading this and other boards till my eyes bleed, and i THINK i know my next steps - looking for tips or warnings! both items ARE IN SOL. first, i send both CAs a 'communicate by letter only' notice. do i want to validate, verify, both, or neither? i remember seeing some 'let sleeping dogs lie' posts - the last thing i want just yet is to have their response be a summons! last, i have at least one (MRS) dead to rights on one FDCPA violation- and possibly more - one woman swore up and down that paying by western union would ge me into a hardship plan that doesn't exist; i have her name, extension, and all the instructions she gave me to pay. i also have the name and date of an abusive caller. so, do i hold tight to this info, send them a letter explaining i HAVE this info, and hope the threat of filing with FTC holds them at bay? do i go ahead and file FTC report and not mention it to CA? or do i get a lawyer and try to sue them? last, i assume i want to start making myself 'judgement proof.' sorry so many questions - i am spending 4 hours a night wading thru these forums, and after a while it all blurs together :P
