Are you a student in school? There are many CC companies that offer "student cards" that they issue even if you don't have an income or a checking account. Crap1 did this with my son, much to my surprise. After two years of fairly regular credit line increases, he has a $1500 limit.

If you are not a student, look for a "secured card" that requires you put up a deposit equal to your credit line. It will at least allow you to get a foot in the door and you'll start getting offers for unsecured cards in short order. CapitalOne, BankOne, Citbank and Chase all offer secured cards on their web sites, or give them a call.

Finally, don't be in a hurry to screw up your life. If it weren't for credit cards and having excellent credit ratings at one time, few of us would be on this board.
