When is judgment final??

I need one small clarification for my impending date with destiny in court tomorrow. Say the judge finds me at fault and orders me to pay xxx dollars. Is that judgment then entered on my record, or can I come back and say I would like to pay in installments, or arbitrate. I just want to know at what part of the proceedings will the judgment be entered on my record. Does it take 30 days? Can I appeal, etc.
Sorry for the continuing questions but I am learning a lot. Thanks.
