Some states allow you to submit an amendment to your answer. I don't know about your state, but you can check that state's statutes to see what it says. In Missouri you can file an amended answer right before you walk into the court room, but by doing so you are giving the plaintiff an opportunity to get a continuence. If you have taken the day off without pay, you may prefer to just be done with it. You need to weigh out how much the addition of that information would aid your case. Just remember, they brought the case so it is up to them to prove you owe the debt.
