So today I got a third letter from this law office. It says, "This will be your final notice. Full payment must be mailed immediately or a reasonable plan of repayment arranged. Blah blah blah... made payable to Portfolio Recovery Associates (which means they purchased the debt, right?). If we fail to receive a satisfactory response to this letter, we shall have no alternative but to take appropriate action which may include a recommendation for legal action. Very Truly Yours (HA!!), Hayt Hayt & Landau." And then it gives some PA's name but he didn't even sign it... left the line blank. Lazy!

So, they really aren't even threatening a lawsuit yet... just threatening to take action which MAY include a RECOMMENDATION for legal action. Now, do you think I can put them off til next March when the SOL runs out? Well the SOL with the OC runs out then. If Portfolio purchased the debt, the SOL still remains the same, right? I've read posts saying Portfolio keeps terrible records and can't validate properly most of the time. I guess I shouldn't risk it though, huh? I just want them to leave me alone and quit calling my house.
