The homestead is protected in Texas. Bank accounts are prime targets in Texas. So, I would tell them to protect their banking info, especially if they have ever paid the original creditor with their current banking info. Change banks.

The stuff that most people own just isn't worth anything for sheriff sale. It wouldn't be worth the cost of filing and paying for the legal work to seize somebody's used furniture. I filed bk and I have all the usual stuff in my home including electronics and it was all exempt in bk. My attorney told me that any one item could be worth up to 400.00 at sheriff sale. So, for most of us, our stuff isn't valuable to anyone but us.
