You have been sued.
You need to file an answer and notice of appearance and appear at the hearing, otherwise they will get a default judgment.

Calling the CA lawyer is a waste of time,they will lie and tell you they will drop the case, and get a default judgment anyway.

Is it Asset?
If you can get a lawyer to help you, do so, you can file counerclaim for violations of the FDCPA.
