(((())))) Like I said earlier - it is only money (and NO ONE can take it with them) and there are more important things in life, such as your family and your health. Screw the CA's. I've said it once and I'll say it again - there is no such thing as debtor's prison and they can't get blood out of a turnip. So what if your credit report sucks - so do millions of others. A credit report is worth nothing but the paper it's written on. There comes a time in one's life where you have to realize that - unless you are trying to get credit again (which if you screwed up in the past you may realize you don't want or need) you shouldn't worry about it. I would rather make sure that my kid and I have a home, medical and the other "needed" things in life than worry about what a piece of paper says. I pay cash for everything (that's why I'm always broke) - my credit was shot years ago (when I was young and foolish), but not bad enough that I wasn't able to get a mortgage 4 years ago (as a single woman with a kid I pat myself on the back for that). I don't even care anymore what the credit bureaus say, at least I can pay my daughter's tuition (and she is already assured a full academic scholarship for college next year - obviously I had my priorities straight), my car payments, electric, gas, food and pay my mortgage every month (oh yea and take care of my animals). The rest of the stuff is not what's important. Hang in there Cat.
