Thanks for all the help and advice.

After careful researching I have found out the following.
1. CA sent account to attorney in another city
2. Attorney is within 100 miles of my home
3. Attorney has practiced law in this area off and on
since 95.
4. Attorney has filed 175 CA/OC suits in 2003 and 2004.
( can't tell what he has won and what he has not)
5. Attorney only practices in Civil Court/ not small claims. One probation case in this county.
6. Attorney has sued for the CA that has my account
once before in this county on June 30, 2004.
7. This is the only other account with the CA I am involved in since 95.
8. Attorney sent one demand letter no further contact.
9. I sent a c and d letter to CA and a request for validation (I know, I know before I knew better)
10. I have no assets they want. No home, no titled car.
11. I do have a good job and they stated they want a
garnishment.
12. They agreed to put their settlements in writing and send them to me (advice from Bud Hibbs) but failed to do so.

I am hearing they probably won't sue from several sources.
13. There has been no response to my validation request expect to say they need to do some research as the file is pretty empty.

BUT.................

To me it seems like they went to alot of trouble to find an attorney who practices in my area and has experience with CA collections. If they are just trying to scare me they have already gone a long way toward making sure a lawsuit could be filed in my county.

Reading other posts it sounds like I should just go to court because they won't validate even before a lawsuit is filed, if they intend to go to Court.

So is this an elaborate scare tactic or does it sound serious to other people?

I plan to look up the case with this attorney and the CA agency soon as I can get to the courthouse. Find out what kind of evidence, amount of bill and if the att. won the case.

Please advise: Thanks
