I am so sorry for you and your family that you are going through this health problem. In my opinion, I would check to see if any of the credit card companies have a hardship program. Obviously, you could get a doctor to sign something since you will be having treatment for this long.
Others will come along and post their helpful advice. In the meantime, ignore the ignorant people that post.
