Thanks for the responses and information.

The mortgage is joint, (the cards I quit paying on are mine alone) and since it was taken out shortly before all our troubles started, there's not a huge equity.

We've had some major business and medical hits over the past few years that have drained our resources, and keeps me from being able to work right now as well.

We're down right punch drunk from all the hits, and it seems like the sucker punches just won't stop coming...and when you're down...the credit card companies will kick you in the head until you think you will die from it, and wish to hell that you only could, rather than to deal with it one more day.

But that's a story you're all very familiar with.

I struggled with payments for several years before giving up, and brought the accounts current at various times, so I have no idea of when the last time was that they were current. The last time wouldn't be anywhere near the three years required to meet the SOL in AL. Thanks for pointing out that possibility though, Jkelly. It's something to keep in mind and try to research. If those dates are relevant, I will want to take advantage of them as soon as possible.
