I divorced in 7/94. All debts were paid off. He kept some cards and I kept one. Each of us notified the credit card companies to take the other off the accounts. Apparently credit card companies don't really do that in their records. He remarried in 94, and divorced again .. remarried again .. declared bankruptcy in Oct. 2001. He had two credit card accounts that he did not pay in full that he and I had opened jointly. in Nov. 2001 I received bills from both credit card companies, and sent a letter back to each stating that I was not responsible for the debt, and that they had been notified numerous times that I was to be removed from that account. I asked them to explain to me why they had not done so. I received no response to the letters, but started receiving almost daily calls. i would explain the situation, and they would say mine was the only name on the account, etc. To this date, they have failed to respond to inquiries from me, from an attorney I engaged to help me deal with the situation. I have received threats, calls at 6:00 a.m. ... even an admission from someone at Discover that it is their policy to not remove a name from an account even if asked.

The accounts have been sold numerous times now and I always respond to the letters that are sent to me in accordance with the original letters sent to them in Nov 2001. (B of A even zeroed out the account I disputed and moved it to another account number .. I have no idea why. I received a zero statement on one and saw the new balance on the other.)

What can I do to get them to actually dialogue with me? According to my ex's attorney, under the terms of the bankruptcy, they cannot come after me.

What do I do???
