Negoiating a settlement with deletion of prior negatives

Hi. I got pretty much buried in credit card debt about 2 1/2 years ago. Previously, my credit had been spotless for my entire adult life. After being on "assist" programs for two years with First USA and Direct Merchants, I have basically STOPPED paying them. For example, I owe Direct Merchants $7000.00+. I'm sick of their horrible lack of communication and jerking me around. Anyway, I want to make a settlement with them. Since about 60% of the debt is in late fees, over-the-limit fees (which they manipulated, anyway), and such, I want to settle for probably 60-70% of the debt amount. Here's the kicker: I want them to agree to remove the record my prior late payments in exchange for my paying them again. What do you think?
