I have a collection record on my credit report that never seems to go away. I have sent a letter requesting "validation" of debt. Have not yet heard back from the collection agency. However, after reading alot of posts, I'm wondering if I should approach this from another angle. So, here's the deal... This debt is one my ex talked me into signing in '87. I divorced in '89. I havn't paid a cent since then. So why then does this collection agency show the listing as follows?... Verif'd 01/2001 Placed 11/2000 Closed 12/1996 Placed for collections, 11/2000??? This went to the "first" collection agency in 1990. Can someone help me with a possible explination of this type of listing.
Regards,
Kevin
