I'd be careful here. True they can't take your home but, they can place a lein against it so should you ever try to sell or refinance, they will have to be paid.
All a C&D letter does is say don't contact me again. It doesn't mean they can't sue.
Were I you, I would see a lawyer. Initial consuktations are usually free.
