Well first check and see if they really are lawyers. Get a street address and you can look them up on http://www.freeality.com - click on "find businesses" Many time collection agencies will tell you or lead you to believe that they are lawyers when they are not. If that is the case, they are breaking the law. If it really is a lawyer, they are acting as a collection agency and they fall under the Fair Debt Collection Practices law. They are trying to get as much out of you as they can. I would hold out for sending them $200 a month. period. Then do it - don't miss any. Put your other $800 away in case something happens so you always have the $200 a month. They will accept your regular payments, belive me. They just want to get all they can at one time. If they are calling you and threatening you, you have the right to tell them not to call you any more, to only communicate with you in writing. So, if they are calling getting you too upset, send them a letter telling them you only want to communicate in writing. They have to do it, it's the law. Linda
