Wanting a Home

I would like to purchase a home, However my credit is shot due to hospital bills and a few other things on my credit report. I have written the credit bureau to get the medical bills off due to I have always had medical insurance and can prove it to them. they refuse to take them off. I would like to know that if I go a chapteer 7 will I be able to purchase a home within 6 months to a year. I have no other option in clearing up my debt. Please help me!
