Hello. I was recently contacted by a collection agency called Performance Capital regarding an alleged Chase national credit card debt from 7-1995. The original amount of the debt was $186.00, which I settled a few years ago, but sadly in several moves I lost the settlement letter and name of original collection agency. Performance Captial is now claiming that I owe them well over $600.00 on this alleged debt, yet they have not sent me (even though I requested it) a written notice of my debt or written proof, or anything at all in writing for that matter, even though it has been 30 days since they first called me. What shopuld I do?

Has the statute of Limitations passed for this debt in my state of Virginia, and if so, what can Performance Capital try to do legally about this?
