There are a few different angles you can take. One, have you ever had contact with this collection agency? If not, they don't even have the authorization to legally collect this debt. Therefore, there is nothing they can do. Second, if you sent them a request for validation letter, they are required by law to in fact validate the debt. If they cannot, then your next move is to go thru the motions to get it off of your credit report on that basis. Remember, your requesting "validation" not "verification". There is a big difference.
