Find a private owner of a house or condominium and be upfront with them. I've rented one condominium and three houses in the past 4 years without a credit check being run by anybody. I told the homeowner my credit was busted from bad business dealings, but my personal references including prior landlords and personal references was impeccable. I've not been turned down once yet by anyone. And NO ONE has ever run a credit check because I asked them not to.. Also, no more than just a security deposit with anyone. It helps to look respectable, and be confident in yourself when speaking with the landlords. This will not work with apartment complexes or with management companies. You have to deal with a homeowner/landlord directly. It hasn't been a problem at all for me....
