Unfortunately, once an account has been sold to a CA, there is NO WAY to "pay them off" without causing MORE damage to your credit. It will cement the account to your reports, and any unpaid balances will be resold to another bottom feeder who will re-age them on your reports.

Wait a year until they are past SOL, (dating from the FIRST delinquency with the OC) then send them the SOL letter from my website. Send the $$ to your favorite charity.

This has to do with regular cc debts, if there are any MEDICAL accounts, you can pay the OC, even if they have been sold to a CA. Go to my website and look for the HIPAA letter.
