What state are you in and when was the last time you paid the original creditor before the account became deliquent. CAs lie and threaten it is the way they do business. Most of what they threaten is just bull!
Ignore CAs. If they sue you ( small percentage) you answer the law suit and go to court The burden of proof is on the CA. The CA bought your account for pennies on the dollar. They buy these accounts in bundles, without documentation. They can not validate the debt in court. They talk big, but most of what they say is just plain silly.
