Be very careful. The minute you start to offer a settlement with a CA they smell blood in the water and will try everything they can to get ALL of it as soon as possible. Lying is their art ,so they will promise you anything you want to hear but then cut your throat just when you let your guard down. One of my friends once offered 50% and the CA started attacking him night and day trying to get 75% or more. He regretted ever calling the collector to try to negoiate.

Personally I wouldnt offer them anything. If you really feel a need to pay them off you might want to see about contacting a lawyer familiar with this stuff who wont charge you much to give you guidance with the language you use or documents you want from the CA. Dont just go and start contacting CA's unless you REALLY know what you are doing. Dont believe anyone on any forum who tells you that it will fix your credit rating if you settle with a CA.

WhyChat is 100% right about how the CA will act.
