Midland - Need guidance

Hello all -
I reside in PA. As a newcomer to these boards, I have gone to the links provided and tried to do my homework as much as possible before posting my questions :) I definitely could use advice on the following:
1) I have three old chargeoffs on my cb: Providian, Cap 1 and Orchard (Household.) Cap 1 and Orchard have both since given me new accounts with small credit lines, which I am keeping current. 2) Providian and Orchard have gone to Midland Credit. From what I can tell on my cb report, Providian went delinq with the original creditor in 8/2000 and Orchard went to collections in 6/2003. I sent Midland a request to validate in Dec '03 via cert. mail. They did not respond, but continue to report to the cb and have continued to call after a brief respite. (Unfortunately, I did not log these.) I am considering sending them a copy of the cert mail green card, informing them that by continuing to report and call without validating, they are in violation. However, does anyone know if these guys are prone to being provoked to seek judgement if I send a nasty follow up? Am I better off just waiting out the SOL? Midland has sent settlement offers on Household. 2) As far as Cap 1, it first went 30 days in 2/2001. I will have the means in Oct to offer a settlement on this one at 40%, and also for the two Midland accts if I had to. Since it looks like the wait on Cap 1 will be longer, am I better off settling if I can? Does not appear they have sold it. 3) Finally, does anyone have any insight or opinion regarding Lexington Law firm credit repair? Is it worth the time or nominal fee? Thanks in advance for the help!
