My wife and I are trying to figure out if we should file chpater 7 BK or not. I just got a new job and I am making about$20,000 a year more than I was. We have about $43,000 in credit card and consumer loan debt. We do not own any property but we want to buy a house. Most of the CC's have been charged off as we have not made any payments in about 2 1/2 to 3 years. I get settlement offers all of the time and we are now in a position to possibly settle, but I am not sure if the CA's really settle or if I will get screwed on the deal.
