Almost through paying debts

I have almost completed paying a $2000 bill through a CA. I spoke with them yesterday, and they said if I send them 2/3 of what remains to be paid, they will settle the remainder. Does this make a difference in terms of credit reports? Can they come back to me later and say I still owe them money? Does it make more sense simply to send them the entire amount? Thank you.
