I received a letter from JBC Legal Group on August 6 stating that they were collecting on a medical bill of $185. On the back it stated that JBC was acting on behalf of NCO. I know the debt is mine (it's from early 2000 in Florida) and I have the $ to pay it. I know that paying a debt collector looks bad and will restart the time line (meaning that it will be on my report until 2011, UGH). Is there anyway to get them to accept payment and delete it with the credit bureau? If it matters, I am now a resident of Virginia (the med bill was incurred in Florida) My credit has been in the TOILET since a divorce in 1999, and I'm finally beginning to turn it around (I've been making ontime Student Loan Payments for 18 months now, and am hoping that my credit score will slowly start climbing). Thanks M
