to pay or not to pay

I am currently compiling all my debts to work with a credit negotiator. I have not made a payment on any account for four months. I separated from my boyfriend of five years two years ago and lost half my income. I was making the bare minimum until about a year ago. I tried a non-profit agency, but found those payments were still about 100 a month too high. I can afford about 400 a month in some type of payment but I don't know if I should disburse any of this or wait until the credit negotiators are able to work something out. My credit is shot and I don't forsee needing any credit next three or four years. I have a car and my current boyfriend owns his house. I don't want to claim bankruptcy due to the fact that someday I would like to get married and don't want this to burden my husband. My question, I guess, is what exactly should I be worried about? I have no money to attach to, my credit is shot-even if I make payments, it will still be shot and I don't need any credit for anything in the forseeable future, they could garnish my wages but I only net about 1450 a month. Can they force me to claim bankruptcy? If they can't do you think holding out on paying any of my debt until the credit negotiator can settle or can I write these creditors myself to offer settlement if they agree in writing to take it off my credit report. If it doesn't come off my report, what's the point of rushing to pay anything off?
