I had a similar situation.

I had a BankOne account.

I was about to get garnished (I live in Louisiana), and they can take 25% of your check.

I took 100.00 and sent it certified to the lawyer and started a payment plan.

I had to fill out documents concerning my income and assets, but it saved me from getting a garnishment of 900.00 per month.
