The last time I paid any of my cards was in 1996/1997 while I was a student living in Louisiana (3 years Statute of Limitations). I then moved back home with my family to Massachusetts (6 years) in 1997 and have not acknowledged (financial reasons)any of them. I tried the bankruptcy route, but I can't seem to trace all of my accounts (they've been sold/out of business/MIA). I called one Credit Reduction service and they advised me to do nothing and wait it out. However, I just received a pink notice(generic) from a collection agency (they've been mailing me settlement offers for a few years) stating that the settlement period has been canceled and they are now taking legal action. What should I do? How can figure out who I owe (those that are not listed in any of the three credit reports)without sending out any red flags? I need to buy a car soon and finally rent an apartment. Who can help me translate all my credit reports? Is there someone to whom I can just give a paper copy of all my last bills/loans and have them trace them all? Also, I have a school loan ($15,000)I signed back in 1993/94 that is not a direct government loan. I have never received any type of notification from them nor have my parents who co-signed it. They are not on my credit report. Should I try and trace them? If I don't how will it effect my parents in the future? One more thing, I also owe student goverment loans(big suprise,eh?) that I have not paid since 1997(my federal returns have been garnished, though). If I can start paying them now, will that somehow help/enable other creditors to locate me? I need alot of help(and money). gmeilare
