Well, they can sue you and get a judgment if they want to. If I know what state you are in I can tell you whether they can garnish your pay or not. If you have a bank account, close it or don't keep much in it.

If you want to settle, you would have to pay in a lump sum, most likely. Generally, you can't get much in the way of negotiations when you try to pay monthly.

I think I would try to wait them out. If you don't have anything for them to take, and aren't working (or live in a state where you cannot have you wages garnished) let them know, they might just go away. They are trying to make a profit, and you would not be profitable.
