HELP: Improving the low credit score

Got a credit report lately and find out I've a pretty low score (650) because of and a collection status in my student loan, which I totally fogot to pay after graduated. I've started paying this debt fot about 4 months and there are $4000 due in balance. With my auto loan 1 yr from being paid off (around $6000), should I try to pay off my defaulted student loan all at once. How can I improve my credit score in the shorest period of time (as I'm ready to buy condo soon)? Thanks very much.
