650 is fine for getting a mortgage. However, it would look dynamite to pay it all off. I don' think it's required in norder to get a mortgage. There is an agency that will rehabe your loan, and after 12 months of timely payments, will remove all derogatory information from your credit reports. You might have to force them to do that, but it is the law. I'd say it's your choice. But you can get a mortgage with good rates the way you are, as I understand it. I am not an expert in mortgage underwriting or student loans rehab, LOL, but I know folks who are, and am repeating what they tell me. Linda
