Wow!! That is wierd! You got a letter referencing a lawsuit against you that you knew nothing about? Wow! I think I would call that lawyer that sent the letter and see what he says. Some lawyers get names from public records services in an attempt to drum up business.

In most states a plaintiff (the guy who is suing) can get a judgment if the defendent (the one being sued) doesn't show up in court. They are supposed to serve you, but that can get screwed up too. I think I would follow up on this closely. You don't want to be dealing with a judgment after the fact. Even if they had the wrong person, it would be really sticky.
