I recently consolidated 12000 worth of credit card debt and was making my monthly payment until about three months ago when I ran into some unforseen car troubles costing me over 800. This was two payments missed to CCCS. Because of this, I was dropped from the program. I recently obtained my credit reports only to find that some of the accounts I was paying on weren't even on any of my reports. i can afford payments, but these only cover the interest rate and late fees. I feel as though I am throwing money away. I am only being harrassed by one company so far. A part of me wants to do more research before I pay amything on any of my debts because I know it could start the statute of limitations over. My fear is that I will run out of time before I decide whether to bite the bullet and pay on these cards for the next 20 years adn judgements will start to happen. I don't owe more that 2000 on any account and half of this is late fees, interest, and over limit fees. does anyone know how long they will harrass until they take legal action. I have not made a payment on any of the cards since my last payment to CCS in april of 2001. Is it better to send a miniscule payment or nothing at all until I can save to make a substantial payment?

any help would be great.
