I am about to go broke. I have alot of personal problems and can no longer make my credit card payments. I have a leased car that I am to turn over at the end of the month the car company said they would file a deficiency judgment against me,will Chapter 7 protect me? One saving grace is that $4,500 is due me in April from my divorce settlement. I have about $35,000 in consumer debt. If I file bankruptcy now will they stake claim on my $4,500 settlement? I need this money to carry me through my maternity leave ( I am 5 months pregnant&single and the father is not my ex husband he is someone who chose not to be a part of the baby or my life)
