Co-signer for loser boyfriend

I cosigned a car for my boyfriend (who is now my ex). I am the 1st person on the loan, he is the second, but he drives the car. 7 months ago, he started getting lazy on the payments and it has affected my credit report 4 times so far. Now, they are threatening repossession of the car because he is two months behind. I have tried to reach him, his parents, etc. What rights do I have? Can I take the car from his place of residence, legally? Can I sue him for the remaining balance of the car? He paid when we lived together, and I have proof of that. I also have proof that he makes enough money to pay the car, but chooses not to. Is there anything I can do to force him to either sell the car or re-finance it in his name? Help!!
