Usually codes such as R1, R9, U9 are decoded so that everyday consumers can more easily read them. Those codes explain your credit payment history and may slightly differ with each credit reporting agency. For example, with Equifax, R means revolving and 1 is paid as agreed, 2 is 31-60 days past due, and 3 is 61-90 days past due. Thus R1 would mean "revolving account-paid as agreed" 9 means charged off (bad debt), o means open account, and U means undesignated account (in other words, account type not noted).
