Bankruptcy would definitely be better. Do it now and you won't regret it. I also hear it's not the same as it used to be years ago. You can start building your credit soon afterwards... although of course I'm sure you want to cut those stupid cards up and just use cash for a long time. That's the smart thing to do until you graduate and get steady jobs. Good luck.
