The statute of limitations for a JUDGEMENT to be filed is 3 years in N.C.(dated from the ORIGINAL delinquency)
The time period for a credit REPORTING agency to remove it from your records is 7 years, starting 180 days after LAST delinquency. If you make a payment on an account --the collection agency is allowed to update your records for the purposes of credit REPORTING,this shows usually as "last actiity date" on your report. If you are beyond the 3 year SOL for judgements, and have a filing against you, you will need to be able to prove the date of your ORIGINAL default.
