I've attempted on the phone to make them an offer of payment each month but when it's not what they want, they don't want to discuss it. I've done this with supervisors, not just the people who call. The supervisors are just as bad since they once had those other jobs, I suppose. They all have the same speech and try to turn it around that we're the bad ones and they're good ones trying to help us. Pretty miserable. I'll go ahead and try what you suggest but I don't hold out much hope. I might not be able to do the bankruptcy as I had wanted to because of an unrelated housing problem. One card is now going into default because they want a minimum of $700 and nothing less (Discover). If there ever is a settlement, can they still try to collect what wasn't paid even though we have to pay taxes on that amount? If so, when does that stop? Also, still trying to find out what the law is in Florida regarding credit card companies if they file lawsuits -- what can be lost, etc... Thanks!
