If you have paperwork documenting the fact that you owe the school "NO" money that should be sufficient evidence. You need to contact the school financial aid office directly. You do not have to pay Pell Grants back normally - but there may be regulations regarding dropping out of school. You can check the finaid website for regulations regarding this. As far as the attorney - they may be a collection agency just trying to intimidate you into paying, especially if they hung up on you. The worst thing to do is communicate with a ca by phone - do all communication in writing (cert.mail/ret.receipt). They do not like this method of communication. And if they call you again, get the name of person who you are talking to and tell them you are recording the conversation - DO NOT VOLUNTEER ANY INFORMATION TO THEM!
