They are both trying to collect the same money. Both have to stop if you pay one.

I would reach a settlement with the doctor. Pay him. Inform the doctor that you want him to inform the CA that the debt has been paid in full and on time and also that the CA must remove thier entry from all your credit records. Get it in writing!

Both agencies can try to collect. But once one agency is paid then the other has to stop. You have more power in dealing with a CA as the FDCPA does not apply to the original creditor only the CA

If the Doc's receptionist didnt mark the cancellation on the appointment book then its your word against his. $150 is cheap for a clean Credit File.

Continue to rack up The CA violations. If the 30 days is up send them a 2nd letter with a 15 day limit. If that one is ignored by them then talk to your lawyer and take them to small claims court and sue them for violating the FDPCA.
