Any other input (and another question)? Re: Pay for removal (collection agency)

I am wondering if I am correct in thinking that I would not want "Paid in full" from "ABC Collections" on my report. I am thinking that just the name of a collection agency on my report seems derogatory.

I am willing to pay off this debt but I would prefer that all mention of it be removed from my report (of course). It will be another 2.5 years before it falls off by itself.

I am also having problems having OSI (ie Gulf State) removing a Sprint collections account. I paid it off when the "manager" promised that if I paid it off he would send in an "letter of deletion." (this was a promise on the phone, I know to get promises in these matters in writing now). But, is there anything that can be done to have them remove it?

By the way, if I do get a letter stating that the item will be removed from my credit report, who's to say that they will actually remove it if I do pay it? Does a CRA have to remove the item if the creditor does not say to remove it but I provide the CRA with a letter promising to remove it with payment and proof that I paid it?

Thank you,

Fred
