Need some advice desperately

I just recently found myself consumed with money trouble. My husband and I have pretty well stayed just above the drowning level for 11 years, now he has changed jobs 3 times in 8 months plus work is so slow he barely makes enuf to cover going to work. There will be good weeks and bad. More bad lately. I just got a nice raise and have some extra but we are so far behind I don't know what to do. I joined Profina and the calls stopped at least but no change on my credit cards. Still late fees and high interest and overlimit fees. House payment is 2 months behind and vehicle is 1 month. My questions are How can I handle the credit card companies myself and get them to help me catch up? Also I know my husband won't consider it but what happens if you file bankruptcy do we both have to and do we both have to appear in court? I liked dealing with the one payment a month but with no results it is not worth it. My CC are about 2 to 3 months behind. HELP!!!!!
