Help. I wrote a check 8/25/2001. The business did not deposit the check. I was told by the business they were haveing A/P problems, i.e. someone not doing their job and messing with the money. I informed them I would stop payment and they needed to tell me where to bring the money in person. They said they would call. They never did. 10/12 I stopped payment. They tried to deposite the check 10/20 almost 2 months later. Now, March 30, I get a collection letter saying to pay 668.75. I want to resolve, not with the collection agency, with the business. But now I am pissed that I have been trying to pay and they send to a collection agency and part of me says screw them. I don't know what my rights are. They are saying the check was returned insufficient funds but is was not. I even have a copy of the check. Any help would be great. By the way, I am in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
