I would be careful about closing accounts, very often when this happens the creditors panic and raise the interest rates.
If this happens your ex-wife might not be able to afford the extra payments. You will be held responsible for the payments.
I feel for you, my ex-husband did something very similar to me.
He stopped paying on a debt (after we split) that he rang up when we were married. He promiced to pay this off but lied. My credit report perfect for 20 years now has a charge off.
