Try this - open an account with a credit union, and then take a loan that is secured by your credit union shares. Put $500 or a $1,000 in, and then borrow against it. Make sure that it is a credit union that reports to all three bureaus. If you have to, build up the account a little at a time, until you have enough in the account to borrow against. It doesn't hurt to tell them what you are doing - that you want to improve your credit.
